The events described in this novel take place in the early 50s of the last century, when the Cold War between the USSR and the West was gaining momentum. Smuggled gold coins minted three centuries ago appear in New York, and speculation on them begins. Behind this are the black gangster Big Man and his criminal organization. The FBI and CIA suspect that Big Man is a Soviet agent, and the gold is used to support the Russian spy network in the United States. English superagent 007 James Bond helps to reveal the secret of the treasure, put an end to the bandit leader, and cut off the spy tentacles of the communist octopus.
