In 1838, a short poem entitled “Treasurer” appeared in the third issue of the Sovremennik magazine founded by Pushkin. Its author was a young poet, whose name became widely known from his poems on the death of Pushkin and from his subsequent dramatic fate - arrest, investigation, exile to the Caucasus. This poet was Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov.
