“The Tale “Confessors”” is among other works by P.D. Boborykina, which have appeared in recent years, represents a kind of happy exception. It more successfully captures and conveys the “color” of the current moment than in a number of previous works. The author looked at the “cultural zone” of modern Russian life he depicted not from such a formal point of view as before, but did not limit himself to a purely external depiction of certain phenomena. He made more efforts to ensure that real bearers of certain ideas appeared before the reader, and not ordinary romantic heroes who live mainly in the interests of love and for whom the ideological program plays the role of only an artificially attached label, just a side accessory. ..."
