In 2018, the website “News of the Altai Mountains” began publishing stories from the series “Altai Heroes. A feat every day." During the year, 362 stories were published, which told about the military exploits of 410 people. This is only a small fraction - less than 1% of our fellow countrymen who fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. But it also makes it possible to understand how selfless our people were in the rear and on the front line, how much misfortune and grief Nazism brought to humanity. During the war years, 42,268 people left Oirotia for the front, of which 21,299 remained forever on the battlefield: some died in battle, some died from wounds, some went missing. 6,555 people were awarded various orders and medals. Each story contains information about what operation the hero’s unit participated in these days, and how his feat helped fulfill the tasks facing the regiment or division. In most cases, the story was published on the anniversary of the events described. This e-book presents the April stories of this series.
