The muskrat is a small semi-aquatic rodent. Belongs to mammalian herbivorous animals from the order of rodents, the family Hamster-like, subfamily of voles. The average live weight of the animal is 0.9–1 kg, the total length of the body with tail is 50 cm, almost half is the tail. Life expectancy is about 5 years. The highest productivity in females is in the 2nd–3rd year of life. Muskrats get used to people slowly and are aggressive.
