Walter Rathenau (1867–1922) was a German industrialist and financier, politician, and writer. Since 1915 - Chairman of the Board of the General Electricity Company. In 1922 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany; together with Reich Chancellor Karl Wirth, signed the Treaty of Rapallo with Soviet Russia. Killed by members of the terrorist organization “Consul” E. Kern and G. Fischer. Son of Emil Rathenau. Article by Stefan Zweig written immediately after the murder of Rathenau. Not published in Russian.
