Virus attacks have become too intense lately and no one can feel safe. The use of antiviruses does not solve anything - if you administer the local network of a large organization, a special virus may be written for you personally, passing through antivirus barriers like a knife through butter. Until recently, viruses were a non-technical problem of “dirty hands”; now the bulk of modern viruses penetrate target computers on their own, without requiring any action on the part of the user.

This book is a timid attempt to at least partially stop the information gap, revealing the habits of viruses and offering effective means of protection and control. The material is aimed at system administrators and programmers with a minimum level of training.
