These poems were written in Leningrad, in the years from 1976 to 1980, and partially revised in 1989 in Jerusalem. Almost all of them were published: in the magazines Continent, Twenty Two, Strelets, in the newspaper Russian Thought, in the anthology Russian Poets in the West (1986). Some have undergone significant changes compared to the previous edition, but the place and time of their writing remain decisive. This is not a collection, not a selection, but a book whose tone and meaning are inspired by a specific landscape and atmosphere.
