“...For many years the phrase “less is more” has been the motto of minimalism. Associated with the restrained style of Mies van der Rohe, this phrase, borrowed by the German architect from a poem by Robert Browning, celebrates the ethical and aesthetic values of voluntary economy. Mies's stripped-down architecture, whose formal expression was built on the simple assembly of ready-made factory elements, implied that beauty was possible only by abandoning everything except the most essential. In recent years, especially after the 2008 crisis, the approach described by the expression “less is more” has come back into fashion...” Translation: Anton Gorlenko
