Book Night of the iguana
The dramaturgy of Williams, who had an exceptional influence on the development of American theater of the 20th century, combines subtle psychologism with a high culture of words. The heroes of his plays - romantics living in illusions, noble and vulnerable people - are contrasted with rough, ugly reality, deprived of the opportunity to find happiness and harmony in it, to overcome loneliness. And yet Williams's heroes can celebrate a moral victory: knowing that they are doomed to death in a pragmatic society, they do not renounce their ideals.
