Conclusively proved the existence of the Northeast Sea Passage. In 1825-1827 he led the Russian round-the-world expedition on the ship "Krotky". He was the main ruler of Russian settlements in America (1829-1835), director of the Russian-American Company (1840-1849), Minister of the Navy (1855-1857). Admiral, honorary member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, one of the founders of the Russian Imperial Geographical Society, F. P.
