Book Death of Cuchulainn
The play tells the story of the death of one of the main characters of the Irish epic. The plot is presented as a performance within a performance. The action, set in the era of heroes, is framed by two scenes from the present: an old man who enters the stage at the very beginning and gives instructions on how to work with the audience, and a street troupe of two musicians and a singer who glorifies the heroes of the Irish past and compares them to people of this decrepit age. The play, which completes the cycle dedicated to Cuchulainn, is permeated with longing for the mythological past, which lived according to different laws, but was beautiful unlike the present.
