Slavoj Žižek (1949) is a Slovenian philosopher, cultural theorist, Lacanian Marxist, critic of capitalism in the era of the “end of ideology.” While accepting the common criticism of "human rights" as "the rights of the white male owner of private property," he simultaneously demonstrates their necessity for the development of a universalist egalitarian politics.
