The book is the first Russian translation of the famous Roman antiquities by the Greek historian of the 1st century BC. e. Dionysius of Halicarnassus, who consistently sets out in books I-XI the prehistory and history of Ancient Rome from its foundation to the middle of the 5th century BC. e. Subsequent XII-XX books covering the events of the IV-III centuries BC. e., survived only in fragments. This work contains many interesting details of the ancient history of Rome, its laws, religion and customs.
