The first part of this book, “Hunting Calendar”, was prepared according to the last lifetime edition of L.P. Sabaneev in 1892. It also includes two of the appendices available in the original edition - “Breeds of hunting dogs” and “Names of greyhounds, hounds and pointers.” The appendices “Complete Dog Clinic. Dog Diseases, Treatment and Hygiene, with a Home Hunting First Aid Kit” and “Laws and Rules” were not written by L.P. Sabaneev. For this reason and because the information from them is outdated, they were not included in this publication. The first volume of the planned three-volume set, “Hunting, Petting and Guard Dogs,” was published only once during the author’s lifetime and formed the “Cops” section of this book, which was prepared based on the 1896 edition. L.P. Sabaneev did not have time to publish the volume “Greyhounds”, but he was preparing by publishing separate essays about hounds and greyhounds in the magazine “Nature and Hunting” in 1895-1897. Articles about basset dogs, beagles and dachshunds were published after the author's death in 1899. All these publications made up this section. The third part of this book is the monograph “Wolf”, which remained unfinished. Leonid Pavlovich Sabaneev is a famous Russian biologist, expert on our nature, hunter, fisherman and dog handler, popularizer of hunting and fishing in Russia, long-term editor of the most authoritative magazines devoted to hunting and nature. Decent attention is paid to each game animal, from habits and methods of hunting to proven recipes for preparing prey.
