Few people know that one of the leading modern prose writers, winner of the Russian Booker and Big Book awards, Vladimir Sharov, began as a poet. In the late 1970s, his poems were published in the magazines “New World”, “Rural Youth”, as well as in almanacs. Expressionist, including landscape and philosophical lyrics of Vladimir Sharov “speak” in the best way possible with the artistic reflections of one of the most interesting Russian abstractionists Igor Vulokh (1938–2012). As an illustrator, Igor Vulokh became famous for his works for the poetry collections of Gennady Aiga and the Swedish poet and Nobel laureate Tumas Tranströmer.
