It is difficult to find a linguistic work devoted to the history of Russian literary pronunciation that does not use the terms “Old Moscow dialect”, “Old Moscow norm”, “Old Moscow pronunciation”, but there is still no consensus on the essence of this phenomenon in science, just as there is not a single work specifically devoted to the study of the features of the old Moscow pronunciation. These unresolved problems seem worthy of detailed consideration. This manual reveals these problems and is intended for all those interested in philology and dialectology of the Russian language. The work examines both the general features of Moscow pronunciation and provides information on the study of this linguistic fact in films of the USSR era.
