Барбара Такман, як завжди, вражає своєю майстерністю у відтворенні історичних подій, перетворюючи історію сім'ї де Куси на захоплюючу оповідь, що відображає всі труднощі та виклики того часу. Читач відчуває атмосферу страху і надії, спостерігаючи за життям персонажів, які намагаються вижити в умовах епідемій та війн. Хоча переклад книги за допомогою штучного інтелекту іноді може бути недосконалим, це не заважає загальному враженню від читання.
