This is official literature approved by the Adult Children of Alcoholics World Service Organization (ACA WSO) conference. The ACA Community Text (commonly called the Big Red Book or BRC) is a meeting book, step book, tradition book, workbook, and group guide. The ACA Community Text was written anonymously by ACA members and provides guidance on working with the ACA 12 Step program leading to recovery from the consequences of growing up in alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional families. The ACA WSO Fellowship has adapted the AA Steps (with permission from AA) to address the effects of childhood trauma, neglect, and bring hope to adult children of alcoholics around the world. The group includes adults who grew up in families without alcohol or drugs. These ACA members share the characteristics of abuse, shame, and abandonment found in families of alcoholics.
