Tenginsky soil burial ground, located on the western outskirts of the village of the same name, was studied by the Caucasian archaeological expedition of the Museum of the East from 1994 to 2003.More than 300 complexes were excavated: burials, cenotaphs, horse burials, ritual complexes. Among the latter, for the first time, an altar with mass human and horse sacrifices, a feast site, which was repeatedly used for sacrifices, were opened. The burial of a young female priestess is unique for the Meotian culture.The long existence of the burial ground, the large number and representativeness of the grave goods made it possible to create a chronological scale from the middle of the 3rd century BC. BC. until the middle of the second century. ADThe obtained materials make the Tenginsky burial ground a valuable source on the history, culture and chronology of the Meotian archaeological culture of the Trans-Kuban region.
