Александр Дюма знову демонструє свій талант, створюючи захоплюючий сюжет, наповнений інтригами, пригодами та складними стосунками між персонажами. Повернення графа де Лафаяєта до Франції після американської революції відкриває нові горизонти для розвитку сюжету, а також для розкриття характерів героїв. Читач відчуває себе частиною цієї історії, переживаючи разом з героями їхні радощі та труднощі. Хоча переклад тексту іноді має незначні недоліки, це не зменшує загального враження від книги.
