The outstanding Russian writer of the second half of the twentieth century, Friedrich Gorenstein (1932-2002), is known as the author of the novels “Psalm”, “Place”, the stories “Winter of 53”, “Atonement”, “Steps”, the plays “Disputes about Dostoevsky”, “Berdichev”, scripts for the films “Solaris” and “Slave of Love”, as well as many other works. “The Dresden Passion” occupies a special place in his work. This book cannot be entirely attributed to either fiction or journalism: both genres coexist in it on equal terms. An entertaining plot - an ironic story about the participation of delegates from Russia in the First International Anti-Semitism Congress, held in 1882 in Dresden - serves as the occasion for a deep psychological study of the first steps of “scientific” anti-Semitism and a reasonable conclusion about its inevitable connection with the socialist movement.

Глибоке дослідження антисемітизму в незвичній формі

Книга "Дрезденські пристрасті" Фрідріха Горенштейна вражає своєю оригінальністю та глибиною аналізу. Автор майстерно поєднує художню прозу з публіцистичними елементами, створюючи унікальний текст, який не лише розважає, але й змушує задуматися над серйозними питаннями. Іронічна розповідь про участь делегатів з Росії в Першому міжнародному антисемітичному конгресі відкриває завісу над темними сторінками історії, демонструючи, як "науковий" антисемітизм зароджувався і розвивався. Горенштейн вміє передати складність людської психології, показуючи, як ідеології можуть впливати на свідомість людей. Незважаючи на те, що текст перекладено з використанням штучного інтелекту, загальна якість перекладу вражає, хоча й є деякі недоліки.
