Кім Стенлі Робінсон майстерно переплітає епоху Відродження з футуристичними уявленнями про супутники Юпітера, створюючи неймовірний контраст між минулим і майбутнім. Галілео Галілей постає перед читачем не лише як вчений, а як символ боротьби за науку та істину в умовах релігійного тиску. Ганімед, харизматичний ренегат, стає провідником у цій захоплюючій подорожі, що ставить під сумнів наші уявлення про історію та її вплив на сучасність.
