The first volume of the Collected Works of the greatest English writer Graham Greene (1904–1991) includes three novels: “England Made Me” (1935), “Brighton Lollipop” (1938) and “The Confidant” (1939). The novel “Brighton” lollipop" was published by the Heinemann publishing house in 1938. Green considered it one of his best books, although according to the writer’s recollections, at first it was not a great success and the fee for it barely covered the debt to the publishing house. In the novel, the author sets out the idea that is dear to him about the moral and religious value of purely human love, even if the latter came into conflict with the orthodox idea of the love of God.

Вражаюче дослідження людської природи!

Роман "Брайтонський льодяник" Грема Гріна - це справжня перлина літератури, яка змушує задуматися про складність людських почуттів і моральних виборів. Грін майстерно створює атмосферу напруги та інтриги, в якій розгортається історія про молодого злочинця, що намагається знайти своє місце в світі, сповненому конфліктів між добром і злом. Його персонажі живі та реалістичні, а їхні внутрішні переживання настільки глибокі, що читач відчуває їхні емоції на собі. Автор вміло поєднує елементи трилера з філософськими роздумами про моральність, релігію та любов, що робить цю книгу не лише захоплюючою, але й глибокою. Незважаючи на те, що роман спочатку не отримав належного визнання, сьогодні він вважається одним з найкращих творів Гріна, і я повністю погоджуюсь з цим. Рекомендую всім, хто цінує якісну літературу та хоче поринути у світ складних людських стосунків!
