Book Polar convoys. World War II in the Soviet Arctic
One of the most interesting pages in the history of World War II is the epic of the polar convoys, “the northern saga of heroism, courage and endurance.” Its heroes were military and merchant sailors of the USSR and countries participating in the anti-Hitler coalition. Along the Arctic route, ships delivered military equipment and weapons, ammunition and food received from the United States under Lend-Lease to Soviet ports. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of these supplies in bringing victory closer.
