
Book Terror at Oakdean
Auguste Derleth published my first stories in 1968, so in the first half of the 1970s I was still considered a novice in literature. I was still serving in the British Army, in the city of Leicester. This novella was (eventually) published by Arkham House, but I had to wait a full seven years before I saw it in hardcover, an anthology that had been out of print for a long time. "The Terror at Oakdean" is a typical work of a debutant heavily influenced by Lovecraft, and one of the few stories that has not been reprinted to date...
