“Challenge from Outside” is a wonderful experiment started in 1935 for the anniversary of the American magazine “Fantasy Magazine”. The editors invited ten authors to take part in writing two Burime short stories with the same title, one of which was supposed to represent science fiction, and the other - “fiction of the strange.” Outstanding writers responded to this “call from the outside,” whose names will forever go down in the history of science fiction, from H. P. Lovecraft, K. Moore and R. Howard to S. Weinbaum, M. Leinster and D. Wandrey.
