Mysticism. The novel “Fire Island” reflects the interest in Southeast Asia that arose in Dumas under the influence of books about Java written by his friend, the French writer, poet and novelist Joseph Mery. Events take place on the island of Java. The main character is dominated by evil fate, played by the sinister Doctor Basilius. In some ways the book is reminiscent of Faust, partly in plot, partly in atmosphere. The main character is emotional and verbally honest and decent, but somehow by the end of the book his character deteriorates, the doctor knows his business. By the middle of the book, I slightly stopped empathizing with the main character’s troubles, since he makes little personal effort. Mainly reflective. Thanks to the secondary hero, who is a bit like Monte Cristo (in terms of tit-for-tat motivation), everything ends with a happy ending.

Захоплююча подорож у містичний світ!

Роман «Вогненний острів» став для мене справжнім відкриттям. Автор вдало передає атмосферу Південно-Східної Азії, занурюючи читача в загадковий світ Яви, де переплітаються містика та реальність. Хоча головний герой спочатку виглядає чесним і порядним, його характер поступово змінюється, що робить його більш людяним і зрозумілим. Я відчувала справжню симпатію до його переживань, хоча й іноді здавалося, що він занадто пасивний у своїх діях. Проте другорядний герой, який нагадує Монте-Крісто, вносить свіжий подих у сюжет, і його мотивація «око за око» надає історії динаміки. Хоча переклад тексту має деякі недоліки, загалом він якісний і не заважає насолоджуватися читанням. Я рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто любить містичні історії з глибоким змістом і захоплюючими персонажами!
