The script by Evgeny Schwartz, based on Cervantes' famous novel about the adventures of the knight errant Don Quixote, begins with Don Quixote setting off with his squire Sancho on their first journey. As in the novel, Don Quixote will fight windmills, perform his exploits for the glory of Dulcinea Toboso, search for the evil wizard Freston, until he is finally returned home... At home, after one cruel prank, the disappointed Don Quixote will lose his passion for travel and faith in people. But even dying, he will continue to dream of the world of knights, where, with the faithful Sancho, he will help people!
