Book Micronesia - a difficult journey back
The Solomon Islands campaign showed that Japan had lost the strategic initiative in the Pacific War. Until mid-1942, the armed forces of the Land of the Rising Sun, created at the cost of overstraining the militarized economy, dominated the confrontation with an enemy that, although powerful economically, was not ready for war. The Japanese hopes for victory in this situation could only be connected with the undermining of factors vital to the enemy's military efforts.
