Book Battleships "Richelieu" and "Jean Bar"
Richelieu-class battleships became the only French “35,000-ton ships” and one of the most successful in the world. Their project was well balanced, and most of the minor shortcomings were eliminated during the modernization of Richelieu in the USA and the post-war modernization of Jean Bart. The project was characterized by many bold decisions, which, in contrast to similar ideas, for example, from the Germans (unreliable high-temperature boilers) , the British (obviously insufficient 356-mm main caliber) or the Italians (disgusting artillery, Pugliese PTZ systems), did not make the French designers repent of their deeds.
