The collection “Common People's Stories Published in the Capital” includes seven stories of the Song era (X-XIII centuries) - seven unsurpassed examples of oral folk art. The themes of the stories are varied: they raise problems of love and morality, everyday life and government. The stories vividly reproduce the ethnography of life in a Chinese city during the Song era. Some stories are full of fantasy elements. The composition of the stories, associated with the manner of oral performance, is also unique.
