“I have erected a monument to myself, not made by hands; the people’s path to it will not be overgrown...”, the poet wrote in 1836. The genius of Alexander Sergeevich is undeniable, but behind the solemn speeches about the greatness of the poet, we stopped seeing him as an ordinary person with sparkling eyes and a sparkling sense of humor. This is exactly how he was seen by his contemporaries. It’s not without reason that one of the Pushkin scholars once said: “Pushkin should be read, not revered.” Such a story has been preserved in Pushkin’s family. Once, in response to accusations of intemperance and defiant behavior, which could have fatal consequences, the poet replied: “No one left the crowd without noise!” Numerous anecdotes related to his life and work brought noisy fame to A.S. Pushkin. Funny stories about the Russian genius are scattered throughout numerous notes, diaries, letters and memoirs. The author L. Myagkova for the first time combined real biographical anecdotes, author's anecdotes of D. Kharms and truly folk stories, clearly demonstrating the witty, brilliant personality of the poet. We will also find out why Alexander Sergeevich kept a secret notebook with the English title “Table talk”. The book is recommended to everyone who loves Pushkin, but especially to those who have not loved him before.
