It always seemed to me that in the small towns on the so-called blue highways, in those dying communities located on old roads that were left behind when the interstates appeared, there was always a lot of paper waste. Even populated areas that appear uninhabited are filled with newspapers, notepads, candy wrappers and recipes. They hang on barbed wire fences, accumulate near curbs and the facades of abandoned buildings. Where does all this paper come from?
