This book contains recordings of oral instructions given by eminent Tibetan lamas belonging to the Gelug tradition, such as His Holiness the Dalai Lama XIV Ling Rinpoche, Trijang Rinpoche, Kunu Lama Rinpoche, Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Tsenshab Serkong Rinpoche and Gomchen Khampal. All teachings included in this collection were given to Western students in the 70s and early 80s of the last century and have not been published anywhere before. Their topics range from considerations of the very foundations of the Buddhist Path—the motivations of renunciation, compassion, and loving-kindness—to such profound issues as the philosophical view of emptiness and the classification of the tantric teachings of Tibetan Buddhism. They have one thing in common: they are all undoubtedly precious pearls of enlightened wisdom, given to us by the great masters of Tibetan Buddhism, many of whom have already left this world.
